Uploading and Downloading from SFTP

SUMMARY:

To transfer files quickly, use an SFTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.

Step 1: Download and Install an SFTP Client

• FileZilla (Windows & Mac):Download Here
• WinSCP (Windows only):Download Here
• Ensure your computer allows downloads and that no firewalls or restrictions prevent installation.

Step 2: Set Up the SFTP Client

• FileZilla: Go to File > Site Manager
• WinSCP: A login box appears when opened
• Select New Site and configure it with the provided Protocol and Host settings.

Step 3: Login Credentials

• You will receive a secure email link with your username and password from empowOR staff.
• Save these credentials securely, as the email deletes after being read.

Step 4: Connecting to the SFTP Server

• FileZilla: Click Connect, then select Always trust and continue.
• WinSCP: Click Login and select Continue when an authentication banner appears.

Step 5: Navigating the Interface

• The left panel shows your local computer files.
• The right panel displays SFTP folder files for uploads/downloads.

Step 6: Uploading Files

1. Locate your file on the left panel.
2. Drag and drop it to the appropriate folder on the right panel:
   • Standard ChildPlus: Agency Folder > empowOR > ChildPlusXML_year
   • CADS Agencies: Agency Folder > CADS > [Data Source]
3. FileZilla: A status bar confirms the transfer.
4. WinSCP: Click OK in the pop-up (can be disabled for future transfers).

Step 7: Automatic Import

• Files auto-import overnight. No need to manually download.
