Overview
Outcomes are essential for data collection and reporting in empowOR. They can be recorded at various levels within the data entry process and are customized based on program and funder requirements.
Prerequisites
- Review programs for empowOR implementation
- Evaluate relevant outcomes for reporting needs
- Note: Some plugins (CSBG, Head Start) include pre-supplied outcomes
- Program Types must be created before outcome assignment
Administrative Access
Only empowOR Administrators can:
- Add outcomes
- Edit outcomes
- Assign outcomes to programs
Creating Outcomes
Navigate to: ADMIN → PROGRAM INFO → OUTCOMES "LIBRARY OF POSSIBILITIES" → ADD NEW
Required Information:
- Outcome Name
- Visible to staff
- Appears in reports
- Outcome Category (optional)
- Groups outcomes (e.g., Employment, Family Supports)
- Managed under: ADMIN → MANAGED LISTS → MANAGED LIST ITEMS → OUTCOME CATEGORY
- Outcome Time Frame (optional)
- Designates as Outcome, Benchmark/Milestone, etc.
- Managed under: ADMIN → MANAGED LISTS → MANAGED LIST ITEMS → OUTCOME TIME FRAME
Additional Fields:
- Outcome Explanation/Notes
- Service Templates restrictions
- Prefix (e.g., NPI or other codes)
Managing Outcomes
Search and Sort
- Search by name, category, time frame, or prefix
- Sort using DEFAULT SORT option
Editing and Archiving
- Agency-created outcomes: Can be edited and archived
- Plugin outcomes: Cannot be edited or removed (no ARCHIVE icon)
Assigning Outcomes to Programs
Process:
- Navigate: ADMIN → PROGRAM INFO → MANAGE PROGRAMS
- Select program type
- Click OUTCOMES
- Click ADD EXISTING OUTCOME
- Select outcomes from library
- Save changes
Additional Options:
- Create new outcomes directly from program assignment screen
- Remove outcomes using ARCHIVE icon
- Assign same outcome to multiple programs
Important Notes
- Outcomes must be assigned to specific programs
- Staff will only see outcomes relevant to their programs
- Plugin outcomes become permanent in the library
- Program Types must exist before outcome assignment
